Pest Control Minimize

 Pest to Look For:

Aphids, Adult

Aphids are tiny, sap-sucking insects that can cause damage to plants by extracting nutrients, reducing growth and producing honeydew which can promote the growth of mold. There is also a risk that aphids can transmit virus' between plants. They can be found on the stems of plants and on the underside of leaves.

Fungus Gnats, Larvae

Also known as Sciarid flies, fungus gnats feed on algae and mold as well as root and stem tissue of the living plant. They do this by piercing the stem, thus increasing the possibility of spreading dieseases and virus'. Common symptoms of an infestation are wilting and decreased growth. They can be found around the base of the plant, in the soil.

 Whitefly, Adult

Larvae and adult whitefly feed on the juices of the plant. They then secrete honeydew which fouls the leaves and can lead to the growth of mould. Decreased growth and wilting of the plant can be caused by the whitefly. Whitefly can be found on the stem as well as the underside of the leaves.
